Raising Lazarus

I went to see Raising Lazarus, a one-woman play written and performed by Kat Francois, at the studio theatre in the Roundhouse. It is a story about her search for a recently discovered ancestor, Lazarus Francois, who left his native Grenada to fight in the British Army during the First World War.

With a mix of storytelling, poetry, anecdote and imagined dialogue, she took us on a journey as she consulted with relatives, explored London archives and travelled to Grenada. It’s a riveting, absorbing show, funny and moving.
