Into the West

Into the West is a children’s theatre show, performed by Travelling Light Theatre Company. Written and directed by Greg Banks, it is a story about two young traveller children who make friends with a beautiful horse and head off an adventure, “into the west”.

The show enjoys two fine, enthusiastic, childlike performances by Nina Logue (Ally) and Adam J. Carpenter (Finn), admirably complemented by Craig Edwards who at different times plays both their hard-drinking Pa and their wise Grandpa. The show doesn’t shy away from difficult issues, such as alcoholism and bereavement, but it has many funny moments too, such as when Ally and Finn try and get their horse up to their flat in a tall tower block.

The show is backed with an atmospheric score performed by Thomas Johnson, helping to makeĀ Into the West an evocative and often dreamlike piece of theatre. This show should please children and adults alike.
