Piaf: Love Conquers All

I knew very little about the famous singer Edith Piaf, so made the effort to visit the Moors Theatre in north London to see a one-woman show about her life. Written by Roger Peace and performed by Laurene Hope, Piaf: Love Conquers All took us from Piaf’s troubled childhood, through her early career, passionate relationship, tragedy and drug addiction. Hope was an engaging performer, and her performances of Piaf’s songs were well-sung and memorable, though I don’t know the originals particularly well, so can’t compare the two.

This show provided an enjoyable night out: a strong evening’s entertainment and an education for those unfamiliar with the life of one of France’s best known singers.
