The BA Directing Showcase Festival took place in the studio of the Platform Theatre near King’s Cross. I saw two plays: Monsters and The Wolf Man.
Written by Niklas Rådström, translated by Gabriella Berggren and directed by Natasha Molchanova, Monsters was a play about the killing of James Bulger. It was a powerful, thought-provoking piece. The Wolf Man was written and directed by Eddie Howell. It was inspired by Sigmund Freud’s patient Sergei Pankejeff, who dreamed he saw white wolves in a tree; the play suggests the patient’s illness was influenced by his abusive relationship with his sister. This was another atmospheric piece.
